Operating from a modern and spacious building boasting some superb facilities the Professional Diving Academy offers the ideal platform to learn the fundamental skills required when setting out to become an accomplished career diver. From the well equipped welding bays, diving tank, drying room and base recompression chamber, to the spacious classrooms, offices and canteen, students always appreciate the benefits of having everything housed in one convenient location.
The typical life of a commercial diver usually means having to adjust to a wide variety of jobs and locations. Although we can’t guarantee the sunshine and warmth found in certain parts of the globe, we can guarantee that we will use varying dive sites, work tasks and deployment methods during the course. This is designed to ensure that our trainee divers understand and adapt to the numerous demands placed upon the working commercial diver. To help us achieve this, the Diving Academy owns a portfolio of barges, workboats and support craft. We even have a fully fitted out portable dive trailer, similar to what would be found on a standard inshore civil engineering diving project.
Equipped with fantastic onboard facilities our 38m training vessel M.V. Sleat has been described by some as the best air diving training vessel in the world. Included amongst the dedicated dive system appliances, are the three persons Wet-Bell and Air Cage diver launch and recovery systems. Breathing air panels, hot water suit delivery systems and hydraulic packs are also included. For surface decompression excercises, her comfortable twin lock deck decompression chamber (DDC) is ideal. Sleat also has a good sized classroom, mess hall, canteen, and showering facility below decks.
